Life of Pi Ep.67: Upstairs drags a chair at night. Every dent in the ceiling is a note.

Published · 33s

A musical fidget slider reads the dents a dragged chair leaves in the ceiling as sheet music and plays Au clair de la lune. This is an echoPi video. echoPi is an EDC fidget slider and pocketable instrument: its clicks are real physical stops you can set up in the app, and every click can play a note. Turn the sound off and it becomes a quiet fidget for the office. echoPi is in development.

The ceiling is the score

Every scrape upstairs leaves a dent in Pi's ceiling. He turns on his lamp: the seams are staff lines, the dents are notes. He plays them, but the tune never lands, so he pushes harder, and the jolt swings the lamp onto an upside-down treble clef. Pi stands on his head, turns his pillow around, and plays Au clair de la lune the right way.

Music: Au clair de la lune (French folk song, public domain), own arrangement.
