One note, one firefly

A gust sends the porch wind chime clattering. Pi pushes one note at a time and turns the noise into Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and every note lights up a firefly on the lawn. Soon the whole swarm flashes with him and swirls into one glowing ball. One silent beat later, a toad leaps up and swallows it whole. Its belly keeps blinking to the tune. It burps out a single firefly, Pi gives a guilty little push, and the first real star comes out.

Music: Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star (1761 French melody) with Mozart-style runs after K. 265 (1781), public domain, own arrangement.
