Life of Pi Ep.64: The clapper caught the home run.

Published · 32s

A musical fidget slider turns a kid's rattling toy clapper at a night game into a drum, and the clapper catches a home run. This is an echoPi video. echoPi is an EDC fidget slider and pocketable instrument: its clicks are real physical stops you can set up in the app, and every click can play a note. Turn the sound off and it becomes a quiet fidget for the office. echoPi is in development.

One click per note

A kid at a night game won't stop rattling a toy clapper right next to Pi. So Pi starts playing along, one click per note, and the clapper becomes his drum. Then the whole stand joins in, clapping on Pi's beat. Pi lands his highest note, the batter connects, and a home run comes down toward the crowd. A hundred gloves go up. Pi holds still, then pushes one more beat, the kid swings, and the clapper's three plastic hands snap shut on the ball.

Music: the ballpark "Charge!" fanfare (traditional bugle call, public domain), own arrangement.
